Tyler Vance, a long time resident and teacher in the McCall
area, is the very talented and personable Director of Music
for the McCall Community Congregational Church. Among many
activities that support the Church’s Music Ministry, Tyler
directs a free community recital series,
Second Sunday Sounds @ Six
. This
program presents musicians and vocalists from all over the
world, performing a wide range of musical genres,
free-of-charge, in our Church’s beautiful sanctuary on the
second Sunday evening of each month.
In addition to directing the Church's adult choir, with the
McCall Community Congregational Church’s sponsorship Tyler
has created and developed the
McCall Community Children's Chorus, an opportunity for
all children of the community to learn, participate and
perform. This program is open to all young people in the
area.
Tyler and wife Jessica, with their three young sons, four
horses, two cats, and excellent dog, enjoy the great outdoor
recreational opportunities of the McCall area.
With roots in Idaho for several generations, Tyler has lived
in McCall for most of his life, having graduated from
McCall-Donnelly High School where he was active in band and
student government. Later he graduated from Brigham Young
University with a degree in keyboard performance and
pedagogy and with minors in Spanish and international
relations. The organ is his primary instrument, though he is
proficient with many others.
Since 1994, Tyler has served as founder and director of the
Idaho Academy of Music. He has also taught Spanish to youth
and adults in the community. He has participated on the
boards of the McCall Arts and Humanities Council, the McCall
Music Society, and was a founding member of the Jughandle
Musical Theatre Company. Tyler frequently conducts and
performs with the McCall Chamber Orchestra and the McCall
Chorale. He has even been known to play trumpet and guitar
with McCall’s Mountain Mariachis.
In addition to all of his other Church and community
activities, Tyler is a member of the Music Teachers National
Association, the American Guild of Organists, the Idaho
Association of Realtors, the Mountain Central Board of
Realtors, and the Intermountain Board of Realtors.
