Christmas Eve Services
Because we are the church with a heart in the heart of the community, many people who do not attend regularly consider our church the place to be on Christmas Eve and we consider the whole community part of our church family. Two services are held on Christmas Eve due to the large attendance; one at 5:00 p.m. and one at 7:00 p.m.
These services include the lighting of the "Christ Candle" to end the period of Advent. There is much special music by the adult choir, vocal and instrumental soloists and small ensembles, and singing of Christmas carols by the congregation. A short message of hope and inspiration is followed by a collection for church-sponsored and community philanthropies.
Finally in a moving ritual, the lights of the sanctuary are dimmed. Each person in the congregation lights a candle and holds it while singing "Silent Night" by candlelight.
